If you remember in an earlier post, I had finally found a way to organize my husbands belts that had been kept with his ties in the dresser drawer. With his belts gone the drawer now needed a make over. The foam core divider that I had made for the ties years before now needed to be replaced.
I love the way the make over turned out, but even more important is that my husband loves it too.
It really turned out to be easier to make the tie divider for his drawer than I had anticipated.
Going to Home Depot I found a thin MDF board ( dimensions 1/8 inch by 2 x 4 feet) that Home Depot cut for me into four inch strips.
I was then left with six strips that were 4 inches wide and four feet long.
The dimensions of my drawer are 29 x 15 inches so I was able to get one length and one width out of each 4 foot strip.
I then measured how big I wanted each square section to be and made marks on the strips

My husband then volunteered to help with the cutting. He used his table saw to cut into the strips a little over half way on the marks that I had made
With all the strips cut and notched it was time to put them together.
And now the divider is ready to be put into the drawer.
And all that is left is to put the ties in as well.
This system could be used for all kinds of things. You could use it for socks, underwear or really anything since you can make the size of the boxes any size that you would like.
Just a review of the before and after. Love it!
