At this Thanksgiving time I would like to express why I am so thankful that I started this blog.
Here is an example of the points I made.
Because we have been moving everything around our games have lost their home. I placed them in the media/play room thinking that it might be the best room in the house to keep them.
- It pushes me to keep going. Everyday I am mindful that I need to be organizing my home. No more putting something in a room or closet to be dealt with later and then forgetting about it.
- When I have completed a blog I feel as if I have left a little of myself on the page. If anyone wanted to know who I really am they would get some really big clues by reading my posts.
- I get a sense of accomplishment. I really have been organizing my home for 29 years but most the time no one sees and no one knows. Now I have a record of at least some of my efforts.
- Blogging challenges me and helps me to push past my comfort zone.
- I am also gaining a lot of insights into myself and how I run my home. It basically makes me think and question everything I do.

They have been sitting there for weeks now, and I have been holding my breath every time the grandchildren go into this room to play (the shelves above hold the toys that the grandchildren play with).
Determined to figure out what to do with the games I started to clean the room (that is how I think by cleaning). I find that by hanging out in a room and moving things about you can really get some inspiration.
The problem is that my vision of how I want to ultimately organize the games just isn't within my time, energy or budget resources right now. So I had to come up with a temporary plan. This is where hanging out in the room and cleaning it really helped me.
While I was vacuuming and moving the furniture away from the wall I remembered that the baskets under this bench were empty.

I went through a list of the possible things that I could put in them.
- Blankets? No! Spiders could easily get in there and make a cozy home (this is a basement room that spiders like to frequent regularly).
- Ah, Ha! That is when it clicked, maybe the games could fit into them.
It worked great. I like the fact that they are hidden from the little children and it is also too heavy for them to pull out by themselves.
Possible problem with this set up is that the games are not visible so you don't know what is in each basket.
Solution, I have made a list of the games in each basket for easy reference.

I also have put the smaller games, mostly card games, in a smaller basket that fits inside the bigger basket and can be lifted out easily.
Now the top of the toy shelves is free and clear (except for the puzzle I keep there for the kids).
Even though this solution is temporary, I have brought order to the room, making it a place where the children can play without the risk of ruining the games that are beyond their capabilities. I can still have access to the games and I can take my time to find a more permanent solution.
