You know, a time when you just aren't feeling it. You are going through the motions but those choirs of angels just aren't singing.
- Maybe you have been kept up all night by a sick child.
- You might have a headache that doesn't quite go away.
- Could you be suffering from not enough sunlight with the shortening of days?
Sometimes there is no apparent reason but you just aren't feeling it.
Well I think I have been in a little bit of a funk. My husband who is always supportive and helpful has been trying to get me out of it without even knowing it (Ok, he always knows I'm in a funk before I know I'm in one).
He has been giving me all kinds of suggestions on what I could blog about.
Things that help me get out of a funk:
- Listening to music. Good music really can feed the soul. Sometimes a great beat that will get your blood pumping will do the trick while other times some soothing classical music is just the ticket.
- Watching a good movie. Depending on the mood an uplifting feel good movie will do the trick but sometimes you need a good cry to release pent up emotions.
- Humor! A good sense of humor can help in even the most dire of situations (my mother taught me that).
- My favorite way to get out of a funk is to sit down with a good book and escape into another life for a bit. If I really enjoy the book, the funk is gone and I am revitalized and ready to tackle anything life will throw at me.
- Another sure fire way to get out of a funk is to offer service to others. It is probably one of the best ways because it not only helps you but may help someone else get out of their funk.
However you choose to lift your spirits the important thing is to enjoy your funk. It really never helps to ignore your feelings. It is far better to learn to enjoy the downs as well as the ups.
How do you handle your funks?
PS (My husband thinks I have used the word funk too many times. Maybe I am in a rut as well)
