I like to dig into something with most of my heart and soul until I get tired of it or discouraged or until I complete it to my satisfaction.
Knowing this about myself I am trying hard to keep a healthy interest in fruit and vegetable carving without it dominating too much of my life.
My goal is to learn one new skill a day.
With vegetable flowers and leaves multiplying in my fridge I need to now figure out how to use these little creations.
An easy way to use them is as a side garnish on a plate, so I have been playing with different combinations of the carvings I have been learning to make. (I also stuck a little carrot flower in my husbands salad for lunch. He came home without even opening the tupperware. Imagine my disappointment.)
Here are some of the arrangements I came up with.
The videos I have been watching to teach me these skills make everything look sooooo easy. And I am sure it is to them, but to the inexperienced it is going to take time and practice, so make your ganishes well in advance.
For my birthday I will be getting some new tools to help with my little obsession so stay tuned for more carving fun. (You may wonder how I know what I am getting for my birthday.)
I would love it if you would vote on the garnish arrangement you like best.
